About the Italian Grand Prix Circuit
The Monza racetrack never fails to combine speed with skill. Some of the finest races of all time can be seen at the Italian Grand Prix. Work began on the circuit in 1922 and was impressively completed in under six months, the track has remained unchanged since this opening. After Brooklands in the UK and Indianapolis in the USA, The Monza is the third permanent race track in existence with the total track length standing at 10 kilometres, and the circuit has held more grand prix than any other venue.
The Monza has always been a record breaker in terms of speed. Peter Gethin's win in 1971 was achieved at a record-breaking average speed of 150.7mph. Chicanes were introduced the following year but F1 was back up to speed eventually - Michael Schumacher's 2003 victory (153.8mph) setting the current benchmark. Twelve months later, Ferrari…
